Quick answer: a home EV charger costs ₹21,000 to ₹55,000. A commercial smart charger costs ₹58,000 to ₹1,40,000. Installation typically adds ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 for homes.

PowerPod Lite 7.4 kW 7.4 kW, single-phase Most home users. Full overnight charge for any EV sold in India today. | ₹45,000 | Buy |
PowerPod Lite 22 kW 22 kW, three-phase Villas and homes with three-phase supply. Futureproof for 11 kW+ AC cars. | ₹55,000 | Buy |
Which one do you actually need?
Most Indian EVs (Nexon EV, Punch EV, XUV400, ZS EV, Atto 3) accept 7.2 to 11 kW on AC. The 7.4 kW Lite fully charges any of them overnight.
Choose the 22 kW unit only if your car supports 11 kW AC and you have three-phase supply. Your car's onboard charger sets the real speed, so a higher-rated charger only helps when the car can accept more.

Installation costs across India.
Hardware is only part of the price. Real cost drivers are cable run length, whether a Type B RCD is already provisioned, and DISCOM approvals for three-phase or commercial connections.
| Scenario | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Home, charger within 5 m of meter or DB | ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 |
| Home, longer cable run or wall coring | ₹12,000 to ₹25,000 |
| Apartment basement, RWA project, per point | ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 |
| Commercial site, per charger, excluding civil work | ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 |
Cable run is the biggest driver. Voltage drop beyond 15 m needs thicker cable. Powerpod ships with a built-in resettable RCD, so most home installs skip the separate Type B RCD purchase that other chargers need. Every install goes through a certified electrician.
What it costs to actually run an EV.
Tariffs vary by state and drift over time. Figures below are representative as of July 2026.
| Home charging | Public AC charging | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical tariff | ₹3 to ₹8 per kWh | ₹10 to ₹25 per kWh |
| Full charge, 40 kWh battery (about 300 km) | ₹120 to ₹320 | ₹400 to ₹1,000 |
| Cost per km | ₹0.40 to ₹1.10 | ₹1.30 to ₹3.30 |
Compare: a petrol car at ₹100 per litre and 15 km per litre costs about ₹6.70 per km. Home charging is roughly 85 to 90 percent cheaper per km. A ₹45,000 home charger typically pays for itself in 18 to 24 months at 40 km per day.

Common pricing questions.
What is the price of an EV charger for home in India?+
A 3.3 kW smart home charger costs about ₹21,000. A 7.4 kW single-phase charger costs about ₹45,000. A three-phase 22 kW charger costs about ₹55,000. Installation typically adds ₹8,000 to ₹25,000.
Is a 22 kW charger worth the extra cost over 7.4 kW?+
Only if your EV accepts 11 kW or more on AC and you have three-phase supply. Most Indian EVs cap at 7.2 kW to 11 kW on AC, so the 7.4 kW unit is the right buy for most homes. Your car's onboard charger sets the real speed.
Do RIOD prices include GST?+
Yes. Every store price is inclusive of GST. Every purchase gets a GST invoice, so commercial buyers can claim input credit.
What does a public EV charging station cost to set up?+
A dual-gun AC pedestal starts at about ₹1,10,000 plus installation. Site costs, DISCOM connection, and civil work usually vary more than the hardware price. Talk to us for a site-specific quote.
Is there a government subsidy for EV chargers?+
Subsidies change by state and by scheme. Some state EV policies offer capital subsidy for public charging infrastructure under the current PM E-DRIVE framework. Contact us for current programs applicable to your project and location.
What is the warranty and what does it cover?+
24 months on all Powerpod chargers, covering manufacturing defects. Remote diagnosis is included, and firmware updates ship over the air at no additional charge.
Are there any recurring costs?+
Home chargers have no recurring cost. Commercial chargers include the first 12 months of RIOD's charging management platform. After that, a per-charger monthly fee or transaction share applies. Talk to us for exact terms.
