Charging times that follow from the table

That first column deserves a pause. An Excite or Exclusive owner charging from low battery needs more than a full night. It works if you top up daily rather than run the pack down, but plan around it.

What to buy, by situation

Essence or Pro owner with the bundled wallbox. You may need nothing. Buy a second charger only for a second location, or if your society requires a metered, RFID-controlled unit in shared parking. That unit is the PowerPod Go 7.4kW at ₹58,000.

Excite or Exclusive owner. Your car charges at 3.3 kW no matter what wallbox feeds it. The PowerPod Go 3.3kW at ₹21,000 is the match. It converts your bundled portable cable from your daily driver into the glovebox backup it should be, and adds scheduling so the car charges in your cheapest hours.

Buying on BaaS (battery rental). Your per-km rental meter runs regardless of where the units come from. Home charging at ₹7 a unit instead of public charging at ₹20 keeps the total cost of the BaaS maths honest.

What it costs to run

The 52.9 kWh Pro delivers roughly 380 km of real range. At ₹7 per unit, a full charge is about ₹370, just under a rupee per km. The 38 kWh car works out nearly the same per km.

Installation notes

The 3.3 kW variants run on 16A single phase and work on almost any household load. The 7.4 kW variants draw 32A. MG's dealer-installed wallbox handles standard sites; longer cable runs and society approvals cost extra either way.

Frequently Asked

MG Windsor EV charging questions.

Will a 7.4 kW wallbox speed up my Excite or Exclusive?+

No. The 3.3 kW onboard charger is the bottleneck and cannot be upgraded later.

MG gave me a wallbox. Why would I ever buy another?+

Second home, office parking, or a society that requires user-level billing before it approves an installation. The bundled unit has no RFID and no per-user records.

Does the Windsor use the standard Indian connector?+

Yes, Type 2 AC, same as every PowerPod.
