Paying for a charge should be as simple as paying for anything else in India. We have launched dynamic UPI payments on RIOD EV chargers, so any driver can walk up, scan, pay with their preferred UPI app and start charging in seconds.
Drivers see the rate and the exact cost before they pay. Hosts who own the chargers get paid within days, not months.

Most UPI-enabled chargers today use a static QR code, a printed sticker that stays the same for every session. It looks simple, but it leaves both sides in the dark.
For drivers, there is no way to know the unit rate, how much energy they will get or what the session will really cost before they pay.
For hosts, the problem shows up later. Payments land in an account with nothing tying them to a specific session, so matching money to actual charging becomes manual work. Many hosts and installers who run chargers end up chasing settlements and waiting to be paid.
RIOD chargers generate a fresh QR code for every session. That code carries the details of that one session on that one charger, so the driver knows exactly what they are paying for, and every rupee is accounted for on the host side.
If the driver needs to leave early, they can stop the session at any time, and the unused amount is credited back to their account.
No charging app, RFID card or account is needed to charge. Drivers who choose to sign up also get a full, detailed charging history and reports through the RIOD platform.
For the host who owns the charger, dynamic UPI changes the economics. Every payment is reconciled automatically against its session, and payouts arrive within 2 days, and within 7 days at most. No more chasing settlements or matching payment screenshots to sessions.
“Paying for a charge should be as simple as paying for anything else in India,” said Akhil Joy, CEO of RIOD Logic. “Dynamic UPI makes the price clear for the driver and gets the money to the host quickly. That is what makes public charging work as a business.”
Dynamic UPI comes on chargers built at our new manufacturing facility at Nedumbassery, alongside features that make chargers easier to run day to day.
If you host chargers, run a charging network or manage chargers for an apartment or office, and want payments that reconcile themselves, we would like to hear from you. Write to us at hello@riod.in and our team will get back to you.
