A single 22 kW unit is a straightforward product. Twenty of them on one supply, charging simultaneously on a winter afternoon, is a different engineering problem, and it is the one that determines whether the deployment works.

Load management is the product
On a commercial site, load management is not a feature. It is what makes the deployment possible without a supply upgrade. Units coordinate so the site total stays within its limit, and available capacity is shared rather than allocated first come first served.
This is where most commercial AC deployments succeed or fail commercially, because a transformer upgrade frequently costs more than the chargers.
Metering and billing
Commercial sites usually bill, whether to employees, tenants, visitors or the public. That makes metering accuracy a commercial requirement rather than a technical preference, and the required class depends on the market and whether the transaction is a regulated sale of electricity.
Access and authorisation
Who may charge, at which times, at which tariff. Workplace, tenant, fleet and public access all imply different authorisation models, and the product needs to support the one your customer actually operates rather than the simplest one.
Multi-unit deployment
Installation, commissioning and connectivity for many units on one site differ from a single install. Provisioning at scale, network topology on site and a commissioning process that does not require an engineer per unit all become significant.
Service and uptime
Commercial sites notice downtime, because a failed bay is a complaint rather than an inconvenience. Diagnostics that identify the failing layer remotely, before dispatching anyone, are worth more here than in residential.
Buy the rating the vehicles can use
Three-phase AC at 11 kW or 22 kW is bought more often than it is used. The constraint is the vehicle: most cars cap their AC intake well below 22 kW, and the onboard charger sets the real speed regardless of what the wall can deliver.
Our position on this is not neutral. What we see in operation is that availability beats power almost every time. A point that is free when the driver arrives is worth more than a faster one that is occupied, and lower power per point means less supply reinforcement, less civil work and more points built for the same money.
Specify 22 kW where the fleet genuinely accepts it, or where a shared point has to serve sequential users quickly. Specify it because the vehicles justify it, not because the number is larger.

We will ask what vehicles are actually going to use these, and if the answer is cars that cap well below 22 kW on AC, we will tell you that you are buying a rating your customers cannot use.

Where three phase genuinely is the answer, our engineers work through the supply and site implications with your team, because a 22 kW specification that the site cannot feed is a problem your customer will bring back to you, not to us.

What is the difference between 11 and 22 kW?
Current per phase on a three phase supply. 22 kW ships as PowerPod City; 11 kW is configurable on the same three-phase hardware. Which is appropriate depends on site capacity, dwell time and how many bays must charge at once, and more bays at 11 kW frequently serves a site better than fewer at 22 kW.
Do we need three phase?
For 11 kW and above, yes. Single phase practically caps at around 7.4 kW in most markets.
Why is load management so important commercially?
Because a supply upgrade can cost more than the chargers themselves. Site-wide dynamic load management, which ships via the RIOD CMS, lets a site run more bays within its existing capacity. Integration with a third-party load management system is possible as custom work.
What metering accuracy is required?
It depends on the market and whether sessions are a regulated sale of electricity. Establish it early, since it constrains component selection.
How does commissioning work for many units?
Through production provisioning and a commissioning process designed for scale, rather than configuring each unit individually on site.
