EVSE Engineering Partner for Consultants, EPC and MEP Firms
Consultancies and EPC firms are usually strong on power distribution, civils and delivery, and thin on charger firmware, protocol behaviour and platform integration. Those are precisely where charging projects go wrong.
Rather than building that depth for a handful of projects a year, the workable arrangement is to hold it behind you. You keep the client, the commercial relationship and the delivery. We answer the questions that need someone who has written charger firmware.

Where we are usually needed
- Specifying chargers so bids can actually be compared
- Protocol and platform questions during design or tender evaluation
- Load management strategy where the supply constrains the bay count
- Commissioning problems where hardware, firmware and platform disagree
- Client questions the project team cannot answer with authority
The boundary, stated
We do not approach your client, quote them directly, or brand the deliverable unless you ask us to. Consultancies are rightly cautious about introducing a supplier with its own commercial interest into a client relationship they own.
If the arrangement is to work, that boundary has to be explicit before the first project rather than assumed.
Two engagement shapes
On call, where you bring specific questions as they arise and we answer against a retainer or per engagement. Or embedded, where we are named in the delivery team for a project that needs charger-level depth throughout.
Most firms start with the first and move to the second only for projects where the charging scope is large enough to justify it.
The conflict, and how to handle it
RIOD sells chargers. If we advise on a specification we could later bid into, that is a conflict your client is entitled to know about. Our position is the same as on tender support: we will advise and stand out of supply, or supply and not advise, on any given project.
What you keep
The client, the fee, the relationship and the credit. The arrangement exists so that a firm without charger engineering can deliver charging work confidently, not so that a supplier can reach past you.
Where we are useful to a consultant
Consultants and EPC contractors bring the site, the client relationship and the delivery capability. What they most often need from a manufacturer is a straight answer to a technical question, quickly, and without a sales process attached.
We can give that because the hardware, the firmware and the platform are one team. A question about whether a schedule can hold load out of an evening peak, or whether a basement with no signal can still authorise sessions, does not have to be routed through three suppliers. Customers have told us that speed is the thing that surprised them most.
We will also tell you when the answer is no, or when a cheaper approach exists that sells fewer of our chargers. That is generally the useful thing to have in a partner.

Frequently asked questions
Will you contact our client directly?
No, not unless you ask us to. That boundary is explicit from the start, because it is the reason most consultancies hesitate to bring in a supplier.
Can you white label the deliverable?
Yes. Output carries your branding unless you decide otherwise.
What if you could bid on the project you advised?
Then we advise and stand out of supply, or supply and do not advise. Not both on the same project.
How does it work commercially?
On call against a retainer or per engagement, or embedded in a delivery team where the charging scope justifies it. Most firms start with the first.
What do you not cover?
Site, civil and distribution design remain yours. Our scope is the charger, its firmware, protocol behaviour and platform integration.
